This is a print reproduction of my original coloured pencil drawing of 90's rap legend Nasir Jones, available in 3 different sizes to suit your space. From the iconic image of Nas holding a glass of Hennessy from the album "Life is Good" era, the portrait is entirely unique in that it is only a mere A4 in size. Drawn entirely freehand, It is the most intricately detailed piece that I have ever created, taking a total of 257 hours to complete.Due to its tiny size, it simply would not photograph. So we took it to a specialist and got a WideTEK® 36ART Fine Art Scanner to do the job. The result is an exact replica of the original piece, and it is so precise that it can even be available in a size larger than the original artwork! Please note that the size 35.5 x 25.5cm, is an identical replica of the original, in that the printed area is the exact same size as the original artwork.

As for Nas, I really felt that I had to portray him in a certain way for this piece. You are looking at the self acclaimed Gods Son himself, who appears suave, self assured and with an aura of dead pan certainty about himself as the Son of God.
As per my usual techniques and tricks, I have altered the version of Nas seen in this artwork from the original photograph significantly. Not only is this artwork more detailed than the original reference, but tweakments have been made to the expression in order to command it more confident and also more in control.
This version of Nas is the one who rose to the top, against all odds, and continues to do so. The soft pink hues of the background contrast with moss greens to marry together both vintage and modern day times, depicting Nas's long standing stance at the forefront of the Rap game. The corners of the eyes and especially the mouth have been darkened in order to trick the mind of you, the viewer, into thinking the expression changes ever so slightly each time you look at it. The portrait also draws a relationship between darkness and light, with the only actual white utilized in the entire drawing, being on the shine of the rim of the glass that is reflected in the rims of Nas eyes as he delivers that dead pan stare. Everything else was so carefully depicted just a tone or a shade darker in order to amplify this effect. For the Hennessy in the glass itself; a lightfast neon orange pencil was utilized in order to have it seemingly glow from within the Kings grip. The composition of both background shadow and the shape of Nas shoulders were deliberately drawn ever so slightly off balanced in order to bring a sense of unrest to his stature, giving a dominant and unsettling aura overall. Both bright whites and darkest blacks zig-zag across the page so that the viewers gaze simply is not allowed to leave. It is bounced back inwards towards the center of the drawing, the drink, and then back up to Nas' face. Pay attention also to the intricate detailing of Nas ring and other jewellery pieces, that the scan has picked up perfectly. The designer suit has been drawn in delicate pastel pinks, creams, blues, greens and purples also, in order to give a luxury and satin effect. The purple aura above Nas, obviously depicts royalty. All in all This portrait depicts Nas as the Rap God that he is, a force that is NOT to be reckoned nor battled with, and it will make the perfect addiction to any Nas or Rap fans hip-hop collection.

This print reproduction, is the very same highest standard that you will find at top fine art galleries and museums, but without the gallery price tag, as i believe that fine art, especially my art, should be available to everyone.
