About me

Artist Bio.

Catsby Eyesore is a self-taught coloured pencil artist using only archival grade materials. Her current fixation involves an entirely unique process of taking old and poor quality/pixelated photographs of deceased rap musicians from the 90's and using a range of visual information such as video and film together with her imagination to re-create the original image. The result is a memorial portrait that is much higher quality than the original photograph, yet it still maintains the exact likeness of each person; but with extensive added intricate detail and visual enhancement. This draws a fine line of balance between hyperrealism and an artfully styled drawing. Most importantly, Catsbys process displays a vibrant tribute and celebration of life that respects the humanity of each person she portrays with every minute that goes into each drawing. Each piece takes hundreds of hours to complete and is also all done entirely freehand.
